This yearís annual teacher recognition award goes to sixth-grade science teacher Mrs. Scarlett Mora of Wilbur Middle school. Please join us in congratulating her! She has been teaching for 6 years. As a teacher, she has enjoyed helping young adults explore science in a hands-on, fun, and interactive way. Mrs. Mora knows the meaning of hard work and discipline. She believes that having goals and working towards them made all the difference in her life. She credits the United States Army for giving her the guidance at a young age. She served honorably for 4 years. After her Army days she enrolled in Cowley College and then transferred to Wichita State University where she majored in middle level education specifically in the areas of Science, social studies and ESOL. Her students at Wilbur describe her as funny, firm, and fair. Students know they can count on her to be there for them although Mrs. Mora, considers student relationships to be of paramount importance. Her excellence in the classroom has also been noted at the district level. She has been recognized by USD 259, as a 2013/14 Distinguished Teacher Nominee; First Year Category and was awarded as a December 2013 Good Apple recipient. Outside of class, Mrs. Mora is very devoted to her extensive family. She is very involved with her two children and is kept busy shuttling them to their various activities. One of the things about her that not many know is that she likes to sing. Because she believes everyone should always be working to better themselves and to learn something new, she is currently learning Spanish.

In 2017, we decided to recognize a local teacher who has made a positive impact in a studentís life. We used our Facebook page
(Facebook.com/MtzPartyRentals) to place the call for teacher nominations.
As a result, we received many letters from students and parents on behalf of their young children nominating teachers who had
made a difference in their life. It was not easy to decide on a winner since many great teachers go beyond their regular duties
to help a student. The winner of this yearís teacher recognition award was Mrs. Annette Clutter of St. Anneís Education Center.
She has made an impact in her young student Arely and her family. Mrs. Ontiveros is so grateful that when she saw our Facebook
post asking for nominations there was no doubt she had Mrs. Clutter in mind. Mrs. Clutter received a copy of the letter submitted
and said she would read it at home.
Thanks to everyone who participated!
Here are a few pictures taken on September 29, 2017 with Mrs. Clutter and the Ontiveros family.
